Core Principle: Anonymity

Our goal is to collect conversational data without collecting personal data. We do not require you to create an account, and we have designed our systems to avoid storing information that can directly identify you.

Information We Collect for Research

The primary data we collect is the content of the games you play, which is used exclusively for our research. This includes:

  • The full, anonymized transcript of your conversation.
  • The outcome of the game: whether your partner was a human or an AI, and the guess you made.
  • If your partner was an AI, we log which AI model persona was used.

This research data is fully anonymized and cannot be traced back to an individual user.

Security and Rate Limiting Data

To protect the service from abuse (such as bots and spam), we process IP addresses for rate-limiting purposes. This is a standard security measure.

  • Your IP address is used by our rate-limiting provider to temporarily block malicious traffic.
  • We only store an IP address if our system automatically flags it for highly suspicious activity (e.g., an abnormally high volume of messages in a short period).
  • This security data is stored separately from the anonymous research data and is used solely for maintaining the integrity and availability of our service.

Local Storage on Your Device

To improve your experience, we use your browser's localStorage to store small amounts of data directly on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers. We store:

  • Consent Acknowledgment: A simple flag to remember that you have dismissed the privacy banner.
  • Game History: An anonymized record of your past games (e.g., whether you guessed correctly, who your partner was) to power your personal "Stats" page. This data will always remain on your computer.
